Dr Michael Frain first qualified in Bristol before opening his very first practice in Chippenham back in 1980. His vision was simple but powerful: to make high-quality dentistry accessible to local families, with a choice of independent treatments that remained fair and affordable.
What began as one small, community-focused practice has since grown into Dr Michael Frain Ltd—now proudly caring for patients across five locations in Calne, Melksham, Swindon, Bristol and Chippenham.
As part of this growth, Hathaway and Caledonia Dental Practices have come together under one roof at Hathaway Medical Centre on Middlefield Road. The purpose-built, first-floor practice now houses eleven surgeries and allows us to offer even more care to the community.
Although Dr Frain sadly passed away in 2008, the heart of the company still reflects the values he built it on—kindness, accessibility, and a genuine commitment to patient care. Today, the practices are led by directors Andrew Halmer and Keith Garber, along with our Director of Business Operations Nichola House, who together ensure every location delivers the same warm, attentive experience.
